Row 03 · Tile-laying puzzle · Toukana Interactive, 2022

Dorfromantik

Lay hexagonal tiles to grow a little countryside of forests, fields, villages and rivers. Calm, clever and very hard to stop after one more tile.

What you do

Place one tile at a time, matching edges to complete quests and earn more tiles, until your stack runs out.

Who it suits

Puzzle fans and anyone who likes board games. Lovely in short sessions.

01First evening

Your first board is a little patch of villages and woods, and you learn quickly that matching edges earns more tiles. The sound of a river flowing into a lake is very satisfying.

02A few weeks in

After a few weeks you think about where the railway will go before you lay the first piece. New tile types and challenges keep it fresh.

03When to stop

Every game ends when the stack runs out, which is a perfect natural stop. Set a number of games before you begin.

Why it works

  • Calm and clever
  • Natural end to every game
  • Lovely to look at

Watch out for

  • The one-more-tile pull is strong
  • Few big surprises
